Fire Danger Ratings tell you how dangerous a fire would be if one started.
Fire Danger Ratings use four easy-to-recognise rating levels, each with a message to encourage you to take action to protect yourself and others in the face of bushfire risk.
It helps you to know when conditions are dangerous enough to put your bushfire survival plan into action.
The fire danger rating levels are:
- Moderate: Plan and prepare
- High: Prepare to act
- Extreme: Take action now to protect your life and property.
- Catastrophic: For your survival, leave bush fire risk areas.
Ratings are forecast using Bureau of Meteorology data for up to four days in advance, based on weather and other environmental conditions such as vegetation.
The rating is your trigger to take action to stay safe.
