The reason the app needs an email address is to set up a VicEmergency profile and add up to 20 watch zones that can then be viewed on any of your smart phones, tablets and the VicEmergency website. This allows all of your watch zones to be stored in one place but accessed anywhere. It is also because there is now an option for emails to be sent to you for warnings and not just push notifications.
We realise that not everyone wants to provide their email address so we have now made it possible to set up watch zones without creating a profile or logging in first.
Without any watch zones, you will still be able to access all warning and incidents information by selecting 'View my location'. You will also be notified by push notification for any statewide warning that is issued.
