If the incident is serious and might impact a community, the Incident Controller will authorise a warning to be issued.
There are three different levels of warning:
- Advice
- Warning (Watch and Act)
- Emergency Warning.
There is no specific order in which warnings are issued and the warning type selected will always be based on the level of threat to lives and property.
The information contained in the warning is specifically tailored to the level of risk that communities around that area are facing. This means that emergency services will often issue more than one warning for the same incident, as the risk will vary for each community.
Be aware that if there are warnings for two different locations and your watch zone covers both, you will receive two app alerts.
